The mother of a two-month-old baby boy whose hand got amputated due to his father’s violent act has shared a very sad story.
Speaking to BBC Pidgin, the lady who stated that she is just 19+ disclosed that she just walked in on the boy’s father flogging him mercilessly while he cried aloud and in the process, the baby’s hand got fractured.
She opened up on having lived with the guy for four years already before the occurrence.
However, after the incident, instead of him (the father) to rush the boy to the hospital in a bid to ascertain what could be done, he simply tied the baby’s hand while claiming that it will heal naturally as he’s just a toddler.
She also avowed that he told her not to tell anyone about the incident but she told her neighbors who then gave her some money to go for treatment.
The lady whose identity and that of the baby were hidden stated that they visited three hospitals but were rejected.
They were later told to go to a federal hospital and upon reaching there, the doctor disclosed that the toddler’s hand was already rotten and blood had stopped flowing to that part of the body and in a bid to prevent infection from spreading to other parts of the body, the remedy was to amputate the hand which they did.
The doctor however confirmed that the kid is doing well and would soon be discharged.
