Ejiro Otarigbo, the tanker driver who showcased rare bravery and selfishness by saving a lot of lives and properties has spoken on the unfortunate incident which occurred on the 10th of June, 2022.
The man who hails from Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government of Delta State while speaking to BBC Pidgin stated that it was his boy that drew his attention to the fire and he immediately told him to jump down from the tanker which he did immediately.
Mr. Otarigbo disclosed that the first thought that flashed on his mind amid that moment of distress was to drive to Agbarho river which he did.
He added that despite the tension, he wasn’t afraid at all, because if he was he would have probably lost concentration at some point.
Otarigbo stated that at that point, his main was to make sure nobody gets burnt, and fortunately for him, he achieved this.
He avowed that upon getting home, his wife told him that it seemed he forgot his family due to the risk he took, and in response, he pleaded with her and made her reason in his direction.
Ejiro Otarigbo was able to save thousands of people and properties from getting burnt as he drove for about 20 minutes with the burning tanker.
