Initially, Davido jokingly said he wanted to use the money to ‘clear’ his Rolls Royce and subsequently placed an N100M target. However, a few hours after posting his account number online, a lot of monetary gifts began to fall in. In the space of 2 hours, the singer garnered over 30 million naira from fans and celebrities; which shows how much he’s loved by the populace. It didn’t take long before his N100M goal got exceeded and he extended it to N200M, the singer began to tag other celebrities and musicians urging them to send him cash gifts which some did.
Two days later, 200 million naira was realized from the crowd raising move and the singer had a whopping sum of money resting in his account. However, Davido shocked both Nigerians and the world at large after he donated all the money generated (N200M) to orphanages plus an added sum of N50M from his personal funds.
